Eagle Feather

I wrote this poem based on my experiences and impressions on a recent trip to Canada, thanks to all my friends I met there:

Eagle Feather,

I met a beautiful lady
Who named her menopause ‘bear’
He partner was Algonqun
‘Of the native Anericans
I listened to the Chieftan
On Golden Lake shore
Implore the eagle of the north
Wolf of the west
Buffalo is the south
Bear of the East door
To guard his people and protect
No words of fear
Just joyous spirits in pious tone
Everything is adored;
Left over bone in sacred pit
Their earth eternal….our shame.
